144th Annual Athletic Meet 2017

St. Aloysius Sr. School , Cantt , Jabapur hosted its 144th Annual Athletic Meet on 16th Dec.2017 with great fanfare and gusto. The sports mascot was ‘Splash’ a dolphin representing harmony and balance with inner strength. So the Aloysians took an initiative to spread the message to approach life with humour and joy harmoniously through the mascot ‘splash’.

The Chief Guest Lt. Gen Ashok Ambre, Quarter Master General, Indian Army, Ex-Aloysian1975 Batch graced the occasion Rt. Rev. Bishop Gerald Ameida , Bishop of Jabalpur and President Jabalpur Diocesan Society presided over the function. The dignitaries were welcomed by our energetic buglars. Colourful balloons and pigeons representing freedom, harmony and peace were released by the Chief Guest, Bishop and Principal. The School sports flag was hoisted followed by the lovely rendition by the choir to pay salutations to the patron saint, St. Aloysius. The torch lit on the Rector’s Day by our Principal was handed over to the Ex- Athletes of the School and then Finally handed over to the School Captain Leroy Sequeira by last year’s Champion of the ‘A’ Division Amit Mario. The athletic events of the Meet started with the 100 mts dash by the stalwarts of the A Division. The other races were relays and hurdles which added to the excitement of the afternoon.

The students of the lower division ran in the Vikram Betal Race, Sack Race, Dolphin race and Santa on the Way Race. The Tug- O- War and Relay between the Ex- students and students was another exciting event. The children of the Primary and the middle school section enthusiastically presented a plethora of drills on the theme ‘ Educate to drive away all negativities’ which enthralled the crowd. The inter house march past, a highly competitive event where the three houses vide for the first place was highly appreciated. The squads were led by the School Captain, School Vice Captain, Captains and Vice Captains carrying their respective house flags which fluttered against the clear blue sky marched in tandem to the excellent beats of the smartly dressed Aloysian Band. The daring performance by our gymnasts left the audience spell bound. The stunts of jumping through the fire rings, somer saults and the long horse were awesome.

Rt. Rev. Bishop Gerald Almeida appreciated the efforts of the students and staff in his motivating message. The Chief Guest addressed the gathering and gave away the challenge trophies. Rev. Fr. Sibi Joseph thanked the Chief Guest, Bishop dignitaries and all officials, students, parents and teachers. In his message he urged the parents to channelize the energy of their children in a positive way to help them face the challenges in life. Under the able guidance of our Principal Rev. Fr. Sibi Joseph, Vice Principal Joyce Pereira, sports secretary Leena Jacob, field Marshal Satyanadan Joseph, Surveyor Sunil Kumar Singh and the coordinators efforts and team work of staff and students, the day was a grand success.
