146th Annual Athletic Meet

             St. Aloysius. Sr. Sec. School, Cantt. Jabalpur conducted its 146th Annual Athletic Meet on 14th Dec 2019 with great zeal and enthusiasm. The sports Mascot was ‘An Eagle’ (The Raptor) representing the symbol of honesty, truthfulness, challenge, courage and strength.

The Chief Guest for this meet was Mr. Ajay Kumar Pandey, Inspector General of Police, Chandigarh (Ex-Aloysian 1982 Batch) graced the occasion. Rt. Rev. Bishop Gerald Almeida, Bishop of Jabalpur and President, Jabalpur Diocesan Society presided over the function. Our energetic buglers welcomed the dignitaries and guests. The balloons and pigeons representing freedom and harmony were released by the Chief-Guest, Bishop and Principal. The School Sports Flag was hoisted followed by the Hymn to St. Aloysius. The torch lit on Rector’s Day by the Principal was handed over to the Ex-Athletes of the School, then finally handed over to the School Captain, Mohinoor Singh Batra by last year’s school captain M. Yashvardhan Pillai and Vice Captain, Champion of ‘A’ Division Yash Dubey.  The Athletic event of the meet started with the Theme Song based on the theme of the session, Preserve the past, Honour the present and Embrace the future. An Inaugural colouful dance was performed by the students followed by the 100 mts dash by the stalwarts of ‘A’ Division. The other races were relays and hurdles which added excitement to the scene. The students of Primary & Middle had a number of attractive races as Go-Green Race, Off to the Shopping Mall, 150 not out Race etc. Band display and skipping rope demo was yet another attraction for the spectators. P.T Display presented by the students enthralled the gathering. They also demonstrated 150 years in their formation to show the completion of fruitful years of St. Aloysius Sr. Sec. School.

The Inter-House March past was yet another highly competitive event where the squads of three houses, Red, Yellow and Green displayed their team work and discipline. They marched smartly led by the School Captain, School Vice-Captain, House Captains, House Vice-Captains, girls squad, Scout and Guide and Red Cross fluttering their House flags with the beats of Aloysian Band. The daring performance of our Gymnasts left the audience spell bound with their various stunts jumping through the fire rings, long horse, and somersaults. Their co-ordination, reflexes and alertness was applauded by everyone The Martial Arts Students portrayed various kinds of defensive techniques in their Display. The Chief-Guest addressed the gathering and gave away the Challenge Trophies to the winners. Rt. Rev. Bishop Gerald Almeida gave a motivating message, appreciating the efforts of the students and the staff in his address.

The principal Rev. Fr. Sibi Joseph thanked the Chief-Guest, Bishop, dignitaries, all officials, students, parents and teachers. He focused on the importance of fitness in the lifestyles of the students. Under the visionary leadership and the able guidance of the Principal Rev. Fr. Sibi Joseph, Sports Secretary Rhonda Jones, Field Marshal Satya Nadan Joseph, Surveyor Sunil Kumar Singh and the Co-ordinated efforts and team work of teachers and students, the meet was a grand success.
